    Ardaea. Your story, your way.

    Wanted: Original Characters

    Genre: Original high fantasy setting

Story arc: long term, no close date

The last time you tried to roleplay, did you end up in a situation where your friendslist scrolled off the end of the internet? Are you tired of being told what you can and can't do with your own characters, limited by endless rules that seem to have no point at all? Are your usual writing forums flooded with one line horrors that could have, with a little love and attention, been worth your while to bother reading?

Do a thousand versions of the same universe in play get a little tedious after a while? Are you constantly press-ganged into interacting with other characters you actually feel no real need to write with? Forced into story arcs, forbidden from achieving anything worthwhile by the moderators, feel like your characters have no real lasting future ahead of them?

This is where it all stops.

    Let's go back to basics.

Writing the way it started, way back when, before 'blogging' was a word.

    ----

Ardaea is a roleplaying group that is played by email, through the yahoogroups mailing lists. No friends lists to check, no lists of new journals to friend/unfriend. In Ardaea, the roleplay comes to you, in your inbox.

The setting is original. It is a high fantasy world which allows for the use of both divine and arcane magic. While original, it has an overall 'feeling' so you don't feel like you've been dumped in a sterile room and told to get on with it - think old Celtic/Viking style and you're on the right track of society.

Not only is this world unique to the game, complete with help and assistance to get you settled in, but you can create it around you as you write. Create your own locations, flesh them out, submit an article and your work becomes a dedicated part of the world going forward.

Make and break as many npc's as you require. It's encouraged, not forbidden. Write on your own, in your own time, or choose to interact with other players and weave stories that interlink and mesh together.

Ardaea is rated NC17/Mature. This isn't because it's a shallow excuse for bad sex passing itself off as fiction. This is to allow for a player base that can write convincingly of mature subjects that often become trivialised or misunderstood by young writers.

Write in your own time, and actually have chance to write more than a dozen words at a time. Ardaea is a full post pbem: minimum recommended posting is only once every two weeks, and it's suggested that posts are in the region of 500 words. Wait! Don't panic! If you've read this far through the advert, you've already clocked up over 400 words without realising it.

Creating a good bit of fiction that's worth opening the email box for is easier than you think.

Ardaea - Your Story. Your Way.

Are you tired of the endless adverts for roleplaying games and communities that appear to be cloned from each other? A thousand million versions of the same universe in play? Writing forums flooded with one line horrors that could have, with a little love and attention, been something worth your time to read?

Ever been told what characters you could give voice to? Forbidden creativity? Are you constantly press-ganged into interacting with other characters you actually feel no real need to write with? Forced into story arcs, forbidden from achieving anything worthwhile by the moderators, feel like your characters have no real lasting future ahead of them?

Are you tearing your hair out trying to keep up with a friends list that scrolls into infinity, all of which needs to be read and responded to asap, real-time, no time for a Real Life outside the pressured rush to be creative?

This is where it all stops.

    Let's go back to basics.
